I am still amazed that I had the honor of traveling all the way to Bolivia for Mara and Marcelo’s destination wedding! MARA + MARCELO’S DESTINATION WEDDING LOCATION – SANTA CRUZ, BOLIVIA
When planning a destination wedding, most couples tend to lean toward more “traditional” destinations such as Italy or France, but not these two! Although those locations are beautiful in themselves, Mara and Marcelo craved a more sentimental, yet gorgeous, location for their destination wedding weekend. They opted to tie the knot where Marcelo’s roots were planted as a child in Santa Cruz, Bolivia. Bolivia is a beautiful hidden gem of a country that is often overlooked. But, I believe everything about this country is truly spectacular – from the tropics of Santa Cruz to the Andean Highlands and the largest salt flats in the world of the Salar de Uyuni! If you are on the hunt for a lesser-known destination to host your wedding, I highly recommend checking out this one.
THE AESTHETIC VISION FOR THEIR DESTINATION WEDDING IN BOLIVIA
While I love being able to travel the world for love-filled celebrations, the destination itself wasn’t the only reason I fell in love with the vision these two had for their day. Mara wanted their wedding to feel as though it came straight out of an old Audrey Hepburn film – how could I not swoon over that? She loved the ‘old money’ feel with a mixture of a garden party affair. That’s certainly a combination I’ve never come across, but let me tell you – it was right up my alley. Exploring modern and unique concepts with my couples is part of what fuels my creativity as a wedding photographer!
Every detail of their aesthetic vision was executed with elegance and class, all the way from the glittering chandeliers to the abundance of monochromatic florals. Not to mention Mara’s Rebecca Vallance wedding gown with the statement bow was absolutely showstopping! The couple, along with their wedding planner and florist/designer, spared no expense in their efforts to make this destination wedding everything they could have dreamed of and more.
THE DESTINATION WEDDING ITINERARY
I was thrilled to capture Mara and Marcelo’s Bolivia destination wedding weekend in its entirety – from the rehearsal dinner to the wedding to the after-party. They started their extended celebration at Los Tajibos Hotel the night before, hosting the rehearsal dinner with all of their favorite people. This gave them the opportunity to have intentional, intimate time with the guests that traveled all the way to Bolivia to celebrate their nuptials, and now they have photo documentation of those memorable moments.
Their wedding day began by having a slow morning with no rushed timelines in sight, getting ready at the hotel with their closest friends and family. Although they didn’t have an official wedding party, they had special people included during the getting-ready process! Immediately after they wrapped up getting ready, Mara and Marcelo had a private first look in the most gorgeous hidden location at Los Tajibos Hotel. They shared tearful, emotional moments together before leaving for Casa Jardin – their Bolivia destination wedding venue.
Their ceremony and reception were as beautiful as you could imagine, perfectly encapsulating the vision they had for their day. They had their first dance under the most romantic twinkling lights and after that, everyone danced the night away! Their after-party consisted of another slow morning, this time poolside with champagne and margaritas. Mara and Marcelo simply wanted a memorable time with their friends and family after such a momentous day – and that’s exactly what they planned. It was my honor to be a part of this entire celebration weekend with the most amazing couple.
